Default weird issue

hiya,

I have used Limwire for Windows since version 1.6x.

At that time the number of hosts (From Statistic menu) was quite often around 2000.

I noticed that as I was upgrading regularly limewire, this figure was decreasing.

Now that I have upgraded to 2.4.4, It has been a few days that the figure does not go above 3! I saw it reaching very briefly 9 hosts and immediately comes down to 3...

My connection is a cable-modem. Is it something am I doing wrong?

Thanks!
Chris.

That is due to the implementation of what are called ultrapeers. You connect to a fewer number of machines which in turn connect you to a larger number of machines (your horizon). This is done, I understand, to reduce the amount of traffic on the net and in turn improving the overall performance on the net. There is a correlation between your delcared bandwidth and the number of ultrapeers you can have.... I have DSL and can have as many as 6 although it is typical to have only 3 or 4. If you are not getting good search results you can remove the Ultrapeers and others will take their place. There is some issue with Morpheus Ultrapeers where mal-configured systems appear... I am sure the developers of Limeware are on the case.

It should also be mentioned that Morpheus Clients do not forward LimeWire hostcount queries, so the hostcount is much less than the true number of hosts on your network horizon.
