Always Disconected. I have LimeWire on my Ibook and I'm connected to the Internet via a network at work. I can launch Limewire but I am constantly disconnected. When I try to connect nothing happens. Please help. |
Maybe your type of connection doesn't allow you to connect to ports like 6346. In that case you are unable to connect to gnutella. |
Try streaming some video (or audio) with another application. If the connection breaks often and rebuffers then there's a more general problem with your network. |
also no connection everything is working... only when i try to connect then nothing happens even on different ports |
You can't choose which ports to connect to, only your listening port. And that has nothing to do with your ability to connect. |
no connection possible I have exactly the same problem. I have just installed onto a Powerbook with OSX. Ihave tested the ISP and got "Gnutella OK" so it is not the ISP. But 'connect' just does nothing. Any ideas? |
I had no connection either (OSX), then realised that I had no 'connect' tab showing. I restarted using 'limewire.jar' instead of the app Limewire and for some reason the connect tab then appeared. This allowed connection to be tried! Now the problem is to get a connection to establish itself! |
fellow osx user (the ANSWER) hey: First off, I don't want to be rude but I was getting absolutely SICK to my stomach reading the repetitive unexplanitory 2-liners from kreiger that fixed nothing for me because, guess what, I don't know everything about computers. However>> The DUDE who mentioned simply opening RunLime (the .jar thing) instead of that cute little shortcut which was thrown onto my powerbook desktop ACTUALLY HELPED ME> thank you!!! YOU GUYS!! THAT IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!!!! |
glad to be of assistance. Now having got connected, I am joining about 200 other messagers to these forums (probably all oSX) who simply find that nothing much happens. In 2-3 hours of leaving limewire connected I have managed to share (download) half a track. Most of the time (about 90%) the prog is trying to connect but is actually not managing to establish any connection seriously enough to do anything! Does Gnutella actually work? Or is this a common experience with not enough sharers, or too little bandwidth, or what? |
Connections last about 5 minutes on startup When I start LimeWire I'll get connected fairly quickly, even on my 56K dial-up. However, after about 5 minutes all of my connections will have disappeared and the only thing I can do is continue the downloads currently in progress. To regain connections, I have to shut down LimeWire and open it back up. I PAID $10 FOR THE 'PRO' VERSION OF THIS CRAP, AND GOTTEN NOTHING BUT CANNED RESPONSES FROM THE COMPANY'S 'CUSTOMER SERVICE.' I EVEN WROTE THE CTO, WHO FORWARDED MY EMAIL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHO THEN GAVE ME THE SAME CANNED RESPONSE. GOOD JOB, LIMEWIRE! YOU'RE THE BEST!! HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY C-NET FOR YOUR REVIEW? |
