"Force local IP" used wrongly?

The "force local IP" in the firewalling options, as I understand it, is to make remote gnutella clients try to connect to your firewall instead of to you (assuming the firewall has a port forward for the gnutella port). Right? The way it's described in the FAQ though, it tells you to set your own PC's address there.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that a lot of hosts I try to download from, report themselves as being 192.168.0.2 and other "forbidden" addresses? (Obviously those downloads fail).

The 192.68.* and 10.* downloads work when there still is a path between you and the uploader via the Gnutella connections. When you try to download a file from these firewalled hosts you send your request back from where the query hit came from. These are also called push requests.
