i would like to make my newly encoded mp3 available to other users? as far as understand, if i drag it to 'shared' and perform a limewire search for that file, it should appear in the results window. unfortunately, the search result was nil.

is this not the case?

is it the encoding software (i used N2MP3 Pro)?

if not, then what is the protocol and how do i verify that my task is successful?

You did it correctly.
By moving files into your shared folder you tell LimeWire to share them, of course you cant search for your own files, LimeWire wont show your own files or do you want to download from yourself?

Just check if there are people uploading from you.
If you dont have a fast connection, uploading wont occur much because fast connections are preferred.

I'm trying to believe that's all there is to it but i just ended chat with another user who performed a search for me and said it doesn't display.

I am aware that the user could have certian download options filtered out, and he bailed out on me before i could chat further on this. if you would be so kind as to perform the search as well, then maybe you could give me a clearer understanding as to why the file did not occur in their search.

hope this helps and thanks for all of your hard work out there. limewire rocks and don't feel down about all the complaints of 'connection problems'. what do they expect with the thousands of file transfers, fluctuations, conflicting preferences and sytsem resources and menacing hackers out there.
