What the error is telling you is that the port, which as an application specific part of your internet connection, cannot be found. The first thing to check is under Tools / Options / Advanced / Port there should be a number in the 'listen on port' window... the default is 6347. If that number is there, then there is the possibility that your ISP or system administrator (if you are on a corporate or institutional LAN) may have started blocking the port used for Gnutella. Since you did not mention what O/S and version of software you are using that is as far as I can go for the moment. All internet applications use one or more ports for their connection... HTTP (Browsers) use port 80, and so on so it is possible for some aspects of internet activity to work while others can be blocked.

when I try to set the default 6347 I get a "port not available message" and it changes me to 6355. However, when I try to use 6355, it dosn't work.

When I telnet to your test site, I get 'gnutella ok'

I'm running win98. and limewire pro 2.5 had the same problem on 2.4.4
