Connects fine, but won't stop downloading! I've finally gotten Limewire to connect (no more red dot...yea!!!!). However, now when I choose a song to download, it downloads the song rather quickly (or at the same speed it did prior to my updating to 2.5.5), but after it's finished and it reads 100%, it won't 'disconnect' from the person that I'm downloading from. It continues to read 100% at a speed of 0.00. It doesn't want to transfer the file to my folder. It sometimes does work, but it often takes minutes of saying 100% at 0.00 . Also, after it has downloaded one song, everything slows down considerably. When I click on an item to download, it seems to be too backed up with the whole 100% at 0.00 to allow me to choose another song to download. It won't even allow me to close the Limewire window, so I must shut down my entire computer. Then, when I get it rebooted, I notice that the files (or most of the time 'file-singular' since it freezes up after one download usually) are in my folder. What's the deal? Am I going to have to download one song at a time and turn off my computer to make the darn thing go to my folder? Yeah, I know, this may be confusing, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a Mac by the way. |

Yes - LimeWire seems to take a long time to finish a file now - I suspect it may be hashing the file or something. Give it time - it will finish the download. Yes - While LimeWire is doing whatever it does, it can put a serious crimp into everything else (you tend to lose ultrapeer connections and other downloads can slow down or stop altogether). I don't think that LimeWire does this for every file but it certainly does occassionally. At the moment - patience is the solution - it will sort itself out given some time. Mark |

...won't stop downloading after 100% Running Limewire 2.5.5 on Mac G3 OS 9.2... Some things download and complete appropriately. Some files have this problem of not closing the connection and remaining at 0.0k Here's what I don't understand: the program says the file is 100% downloaded, the "incomplete" file has the full size in bytes that it is expected to, but still the connection remains open and continues to download at rates up to 30k for minutes, hours... Where is this data transfer going? Is it downloading reduntant files? Sometimes, if I just close the program and try to open the file, it works. So far, the worst I've had is to have stuffit expander warn me that the data fork could not be verified, so "... use this file with caution." |
