Extremely slow file sharing with 2.6.3 I have a P2-350 running Windows 98. Up until this evening, my version of LimeWire was 2.4.4. Using 2.4.4, after I started the program, it would take about five seconds for LimeWire to read through my shared directories and count the 1380 mp3 files that I am currently sharing. This evening I installed 2.6.3. I'm generally happy with it (in particular, downloads seem to be about twice as fast as before), but there's one thing puzzling me. This is that after starting the program, it takes five to ten seconds to count EACH file in my shared directories! The shared files counter in the bottom left or the screen increments one number at a time, about every five to ten seconds. After being online for over two hours this evening, the program had only counted 950 of my shared files. When I look at the "Library" tab, only the files that have been counted appear in the library. I wondered if this was just a first-time initialization problem, but it happens every time I start LimeWire. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is there some new option I have to set? Any hints will be appreciated. |
Limewire is giving a unique identity to all your files by hashing, it takes some time but once you give the time to hash all your files, the next time limewire will open and share files as fast as version 2.4.4 |
Thanks for the info - it's much better now! |
