How come the search button won't activate I am unable to perform a search. The search button is not activating. The top bar states "Running the Gnutella Network (Disconnected / no files available) How do I get this thing to work? Help!!! I am on a MAC 9.2 |
Like you told us, Limewire was disconnected from the Gnutella Network so you have to wait till Limewire finds some hosts to connect to. In case Limewire cant find any hosts (if you wait more than 2 minutes I guess theres something wrong) then you have to check if outgoing connections are allowed by your firewall/router. |
I'm also having trouble with this. With regard to the earlier announcement about the FAQ: I couldn't find any information that addressed this particular problem, which is what drove me to the forums. I can't use the search feature either, with regard to the above reply that is apparently because it's not connected to gnutella. Okay... now that it's established that I can't search because it's not connected.... It won't connect. All I get is an ever changing number of hosts and "connecting... connecting..." Really, I'd just like is some quick, plain english troubleshooting for the technologically naive. Because I have never done this before and the FAQ is even too far over my head. Can anyone help? |
You might want to check this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...t=Cant+Connect And this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...t&pagenumber=2 If you are using Limewire at a company, school or university it is possible that the administrator has disallowed Gnutella to use certain ports like 6346, if this is the case you have to try to connect to non 6346, you can usually find some of nodes to connect to using GWebcache. |
same thing-- My "search" botton won't activate either- I realize this is because I am not connected. Yes, I have already read that some schools (I'm using college ethernet) don't allow programs to run---- but five days ago, I was downloading left and right. It just now all of a sudden is not working when it worked perfectly a week ago. I completely un-installed the program, downloaded the 2.7 version, re installed that, and it still doesn't work. Why??? Somebody PLEASE HELP! |
If you find the answer.... I have the same problem as all of you. I am @ university on a Mac and when I upgraded to version 2.7.3 I couldn't connect to the Gnutella network. It doesn't connect in a couple of minutes...It never does. So I am now stuck with no Limwire. Does re-installing an older version really help? Solution from ealier post. Would someone who has tried for this problem let me know. |
i need music!!! I have a problem somewhat similar to the rest of you. I have mac os 9.1, and i can get into limewire. ALthough, after i type in the thing i want and i press the search button, nothing happens. the little green light is on, but the little limewire logo doesn't move around and i don't get any results. Someone HELP!!!! |
