Question Launch and Java Problems

After downloading the XP Service Pack I could not launch Limewire 2.0.4. . The uninstaller would not work so I tried to download 2.7.13. It would not launch either. I got the message "could not locate suitable Java Runtime environment." I downloaded it but when I try to launch Limewire nothing happens. ALso I can not enter Java Chatrooms. I think the problem is I did not uninstall Limewire and Java runtime completely. I woudl sure appreciate help.

TL,

Did Limewire direct you to a site to download Java? If so accept it and download the version directed.

I have had the best luck with XP and Java 1.3.1_04.

Another thing you might try is open Java from control panel, select the browser tab and if either IE or netscape are checked uncheck them.

Good Luck,

Norm

Thank you for your reply. Yes it did direct me to down the Java program which I did, but for some reason it does not replace the old one. When I try to go to control panel to open Java I get a message saying the system cannot find the registry key specified. I believe the old Java program was not deinstalled properly but I do not know how to correct that. Any ideas?

Terry:

It sounds like you hava a Java issue. I would go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Java. Then start Limewire and download the Java version directed by Limewire.

Good Luck.

Norm
