I just manually over-rode McAfee Firewall and shut it down completely. I was then able to connect, search and download a file without a problem. I've had McAfee Firewall running for the last several months but it's just been the last week or two when I haven't been able to connect to Limewire. I guess I'll continue trying to connect with the Firewall up and running, and if that fails, I'll turn it off again and try connecting that way. Hope this helps some of you.

It does not matter what number I try to put into the listening port. It keeps reverting back to 6355 and says that the port number I picked is not a valid number. But, all the other places where a port is listed the number is 6346.

As some extra info, I don't have a firewall. I am on DSL thru a router. the other puter on the lan works on limewire, and has 6346 for all the ports. I just deleted limewire and java, again, and installed new limewire 2.8.6 along with java2 runtime enviroment with no difference. I have ran scandisk, check disk, antivirus program, and ad-advise. They have found no problems. I have tried versions 2.5.5, 2.7.3, 2.8.5, and 2.8.6, all do the same thing. I was running 2.5.5 with no trouble. I stopped using it for about a month. Then about 2 weeks ago, I went on to try and download some things and that is when the trouble started. Nothing changed except for me trying the different versions. And that was because of the problem when I first tried to get on.
