Port numbers for firewall port forwarding? Greetings. I'm having trouble getting my purchased version of LimeWire to work. I suspect the problem is a firewall--from my router, cable, or what came with my new computer (Mac OS 10.2), I don't know. So far, it seems that the router is most likely suspect, however, tech support told me I need to get port numbers from the company that designed the application/service I'm trying to use. No one from LimeWire has answered my questions. Since I've never used a router--or a firewall--at home before, is there a given port number? The LimeWire FAQ mentions "6346" for Gnutella but I gave that a shot and it made no difference. I'm able to download maybe one in every thirty files I search for. It seems no one is able to get to my files at all. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! --FC |
My SYSAD has asked me for the port information as well so he can construct an appropriate policy for the firewall. Any information is much appreciated. I skimmed the Installation FAQ and the Firewall FAQ but did not see anything pertinent. I also skimmed the tech specs with the same results. Forrest |
