sharing with friends

Does anyone know how I can share files with my friends?
I have given them my IP adress but they can't connect to it.
Once we tried to connect to the same host. The files showed up but when my friend tried to download them, he only got requery sent message.
Please help

The new 2.9.6 beta version has eliminated the requery message (and requeries).

If your common host stayed up and was accepting connections, you should have been able to browse and download each other's files. Once the files started to download, you don't need the host to stay up in the connections--connections are used for searches, not downloads. I don't know if uploads in progress depend on hosts remaining active in the connections pane.

I'd like to send files to friends too, so I hope you can work this out. Another possibility: "Magnet" links sound like they are useful for emailing a link to files you can share with friends, but I don't know much about how to format one. (they're mentioned with links in the Limewire Beta sections)

Keep us posted--sounds like a useful experiment.

Thanks for the reply. I have just downloaded the 2.9.6 beta version and I'm trying to find out more about magnet links. I'll post it here if i figure it out

2.9.6 isn't beta anymore--it just showed up on my pro page since I last posted. Thanks for checking out the magnets; I'm hoping to get some time with them this weekend.
