Cable ISP blocks P2P

I went through the connection frustrations; finally called my Cable ISP and found out that they now block all file sharing programs.
I have a "friend of a friend" who did some sort of workaround on my friend's PC (with the same ISP I have) and my friend can now use all P2P programs again. My problem is that my friend doesn't know what was done, and we have been unable to get in touch with the other guy ever since.
Anyone have any idea as to what can be done to get around an ISP that blocks P2P traffic?

Thanks!

depending on what they do, you can just use another port than 6346. however, i assume they probably went farther than just blocking 6346.

change providers as fast as possible. we don't want the ones who block file sharing to become market leaders ;-)
