Connection issues

Hi everyone,

After many attempts...forum reading..FAQ's and Help..blah..blah It is obvious that I will not be connecting with LimeWirePro.
I downloaded and installed the latest version, with the correct j2re and it's not connecting. I got a connection once, downloaded 2 songs, lost the connection and it has never re-connected.

I've checked the connections list...left it running for infinity..nothing.

I've forced ip.......re-set to defaults...etc..etc..

I've used LimeWirePro for a Very long time.....it's not rocket science..lmao

My isp is not blocking it..my firewall is not blocking it.

I downloaded and payed for BearShare..it's running beautifully.

I've seen Many posts regarding this problem and after all this troubleshooting and coming up empty, I find it hard to believe the problem therein lies with the users, or some of the isp's.

I question the j2re. There is a newer version 1.4.1 and for those of us that use windows auto-update we have downloaded and installed the latest.
So, we have 2. From what I can tell, LimeWirePro, the latest version, will only run with the 1.3.1, which is installed with LWPro, if it's not already on your system. If you have the most recent j2re, LWPro tells us we do not have the j2re and installs it.
It will absolutely not run with the j2re 1.4.1, I tested the theory.

So what's a gal to do? If I have both versions of the j2re, they damage each other...objects=damaged. It's important that I run the latest version.

I have e-mailed LWPro, asked for a refund on my CCard and I'll use BearShare.

I am disappointed..I liked LWPro. If they find the fix for whatever is going on :(..I'll be happy to re-purchase it.:D

If you are running Windows try going to Control Panel, double click the Java icon, select the browser tab and uncheck both Netscape and IE.

Good Luck,

Norm

Hi Norm,
Thanks for the reply :)

I tried that and also tried the selection for IE browsers.
Figured something may work...lol.

Oh well, I gave this issue hours of my time..that I really can't afford because I liked the app and really despise issues I can't figure out....it's a need to know for me ;) (Info junkie) lol.

I'll continue with BearShare, which I must say is also a fine little application :)

I have the patience of a goddess..I'll await another version of LimeWirePro..and attempt it again, using a most recent edition of the j2re.

Makes it difficult to enjoy a new pc, when the apps you love just won't work.

C'est la vie.....Thanks again Norm...Debb

Debb,

I understand your frustration.

Ironically I gave up Bearshare because of ads & functional issues. Limewire Pro has worked well for me. Normal flaws & frustrations but all resolvable. I am running the beta 3.2 but I have run versions since 2.0

I really feel like you have a Java issue but I can't figure a way to resolve it. I assume you un-installed & re-installed both Limewire & Java.

Check back - the next version might resolve your issues. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Debb:

I thought of something. Do you use a proxy, or a netmask to connect to the net? I'm asking b/c LW relies on the IP broadcasted to accept incoming connections. If you IP broadcasted is different from your actual IP, there will be problems. Go to whatismyip.com and see if the IP displayed matches your actual IP.
