Opening port 6346 I have a SohoWare BroadGuard cable router. I don't see in the manual anywhere that I can do what you are suggesting -- that is tell it to open port 6346. My SohoWare NBG800 software doesn't seem to have that option. Their FAQ says: Q. How can I use applications (i.e.: Napster, ICQ, AIM, etc…:) with the NBG800? A. Enable the DMZ Features, of the web configuration screen. For example, if your computer's IP address is 192.168.10.20, enter the IP address onto DMZ setup page. So, will this do it? I upgraded to LimeWire 3.2.1 this morning and can no longer do even a Search. The Connections page shows that I am an Ultrapeer, and there are four outgoing conections that seem quite busy. Help, please.... |
Looking at the website's setup manual, I'd say Yes, that's all you have to do. It appears that is a very crude opening port mechanism, and instead of merely opening one port, it opens them all. But nevertheless, it acomplishes our purpose, although it leaves your firewall quite open. |
