![]() If Limewire isn't making you an ultrapeer, you shouldn't be one, because clearly limewire has deemed that you are not fast enough, either connection-wise or CPU/memory-wise or that you don't stay on long enough. So, find me and kick me ![]() |

![]() Excuse me sir, but you are rude. In order to become an ultrapeer, you have to have been a leaf for say, around a day, have an easily accessible computer through your network, and also have the connections and CPU loads to handle it. I know that as more and more people are able to become ultrapeers, I would imagine the protocol changes to raise the bar higher. |

![]() Thanks for your replies, Blackbird. Yes, it's possible that LimeWire will promote you to an Ultrapeer after about 6 hours. Otherwise, we simply promote people to become Ultrapeers when they join the network on an as-needed basis. So, if there are no Ultrapeers needed at the moment, you'll become a leaf. If there are Ultrapeers needed and you're capable of being one, you'll be an Ultrapeer. |

![]() That is false. The difference between a leaf and an ultrapeer is that one of them routes traffic between leaves, and the other doesn't. Plain and simple. They are both just as hooked into the network as anyone else. Most people, in fact, prefer to be leaves, because, until a couple of months ago, the bandwith necessary to sustain many connections as an ultrapeer was prohibitive. But now it is not so. If you're not an ultrapeer, don't worry about it, you still have access to as many files as an ultrapeer. |
