i keep getting message...save file invalid...tired or reinstalling limewire....please advise

The newest beta should solve this problem on all platforms except Mac Classic (where we haven't really seen the problem anyway).

On your personal PRO page, or http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml if you're using the free version. I would wait till the version number says 3.4.1, though, because of a small bug we found in 3.4.0 that could be relatively annoying.

Yup -- and the 3.4 series should solve the problem of the save directory being read as invalid. Currently 3.4 is in beta. If you want to help test it out, you can download it, as it should solve your problem. You can also wait till its out of beta if you prefer.
