Unhappy Limewire connects on Mac but not on PC

I have no problems using Limewire 3.3.5 with my Mac OS X, but when I installed the PC version on my Win 2000 PC with DSL connection, I get no connection. The program opens without any problems, but I cannot search for any files because even when I manually try to connect, nothing happens. I have tried running Limewire after I have established connection to the internet first through an internet browser (though surely this is not necessary since I have DSL), but it didn't help. After trying several times, I downloaded Bearshare, and that works fine. Why won't Limewire 3.3.5 go on my PC??? I am using a router with my DSL line. Does that have something to do with it? (But I would think that if so, my Mac would also be affected??) Thanks.

I used to have to set the router to give each machine on my NAT its own port to avoid conflicts. Try starting the PC by itself first and the Mac second to see if this is the problem.

No, the router is not connected to my mac and PC at the same time, so I don't think that is the problem. I alternate my DSL connection between the two, just for troubleshooting. My router poses no problem for my mac, so I have to think that it is a software issue for the PC no connection problem.

Might be worth connecting the DSL modem without the router to rule it out. (When I change Network Preferences on OSX for different ISP's or LAN's, I sometimes have to restart the router for it to recognize the change).

Hope someone who knows Windows can help out here. btw--LW is now at 3.4.5.
