Well....color me D.U.M.B! I did what you had suggested and even went to my incomplete folder and deleted those. So far so good, seems to have done the trick. Who would'a thunk it? Obviously not me! LOL Thank you for your help I do appreciate it.
One other question, when looking for a good dl source do you tend to go by the bitrate or the connection of the peer? I've been going by the connection of the peer and have been told my my brother in law (techie man that he is - makes me sick! LOL) that I should be going by the bitrate. Is that true?
And I promise...no more stoopid q's from now on! LOL

I didn't say delete the items from your incomplete folder. Oh Oh! I said delete them from your Dwnload window (below your search pane.) If you delete the items from your incomplete folder as shown in the library window, you will delete them forever. That was not exactly following what I said. You asked for a technique to get your partially dwnlded files start to dwnld again. That was the best technique. The other is to force resume from the incomplete window, however there's no guarantees it'll start dwnlding. It must have sources available to have a good chance to start dwnlding.
You're obviously refering to multimedia such as mp3's in your next question. The bitrate is purely the rate at which the file was encoded at. For mp3 that can range from 32 up to 320 kbps. It has nothing to do with the upld/dwnld speed of the source. Quality rating is best (matter of opinion I guess). It's a good idea to go to your LW menu-Tools-Options-Searching-Quality & set the minimum at least 2 or 3 stars so that there's a much better chance of you dwnlding from reliable sources. A cable/broadband might be offering much more upld bandwidth than a T1 is offering or has available - so it depends.
But remember the bitrate that's shown in the search window has nothing to do with the dwnld speed, only the quality of the file itself. The higher the BR of the mp3, the better the quality. Anything from 128kbps up is reasonable quality.

The connection of the peer is more important: this will affect the speed more directly. The bitrate indicates the quality of the file, for song files: a bitrate of about 126 means an ok sounding song whereas a bitrate of 300 will get you A quality sound. Higher bitrates mean larger files (as less stuff is cut down during the encoding) which also means higher waiting time for the download to finish. In that aspect, bitrate does influence speeds.
I think in Kazaa, bitrates reffered to the actual effective transfer speed of the host. That's probably why your bro-in-law told you to look for better bitrates.
I don't know much about the WMP as I don't use it all that much (sure I'm on Mac, but even so...)

EDIT: Oopsie, I didn't know you were also typing your own post at the same time Lord. Sorry

Perhaps if you try some alternative movie players this will solve your issue (then there's no need to obtain the xtra WMP codecs.) I think I had the same issue with WMP so I changed to VLC : http://www.videolan.org/ which can also play dvd, vcd, divx. & more. There's also other free movie players out there if you want to search for them.

You guys are awesome! Thank you for all of your help I really do appreciate it!
As far as deleting my incomplete files, I do know that once I do I've lost them. No biggie, I just thought every little bit would help.
And maybe thats why my brother in law told me about the bitrate, higher means better quality. I didn't know that.
All I know is it was that damn 'need more sources' that started me a rollin'!
Thank you again for all of your help, both of you. If ever you need anything prog wise just ask. I have a gazillion, just not here on cd, I backed up my FTP and got rid of it.
Thanks a Mil!
