Yet Another Connection Question so i just downloaded and installed limewire on an XP platform and i'm having the usual red/green/red/green on/off inability to connect to the network. i'm actively on the net - that's not the issue. within limewire, in tools/options/advanced/ports, i indicated port 6346. in tools/options/advanced/firewalls, i selected "force IP", even though i don't believe i'm behind a firewall. finally, i contacted my ISP (netzero platinum in california), and they assure me that they are not blocking any ports. do you think there's anything i might have missed? please help! i'm totally out of good music... thanks! |
same problem w/ different ISP just to check, i connected to the internet via my roommate's DSL earthlink service, and i experienced the same problem with Limewire. The status open opening the program is Red light disconnected, and when I try to force a connection via File/Connect, the Red light briefly glows Green for half a second, and then immediately returns to Red/disconnected. Incidentally, I checked, and with both connections (dialup/netzero and dsl/earthlink) the option to enable the Internet Connection Firewall (built into XP) is NOT selected. What am i doing wrong? Any advice would be extremely welcome and appreciated. Thanks! |
Stief fixed the problem! i hadn't populated my designated sharing directory with any files yet. once i did that, allowed them to be uploaded, and then closed and reopened limewire, i was online just fine. thanks again stief! |
