Disconnects You can be disconnected if your connection is overloaded. If you are, for instance, loading a few web pages and also trying to download an mp3 at the same time, there is very little bandwidth left for maintaining connections to the network. Sometimes, increasing the number of exact connections helps. Instead of the default 2, I use 3. This way, if one is dropped, there are still 2 others left to back it up.
If this is does not seem to be the problem, you might have a cruddy ISP. I know and can testify that dial-up Juno has lots of problems with this. Every few minutes, the servers stop responding. After a minute or so, they respond again, but by this time, your connections to other hosts have already been dropped due to inactivity.
