Connecting to limewire How in the world to you connect to limewire? What should I do I dont know how to use this bloody program. I open it up and I cant search anything, under the connections tab there are some servers but I dont think im connected, how do I get connected? |
LimeWire interferes will Spyware Hi there ! I suspect you're having the same trouble as i did some days ago (see also the (monologous) thread "can't connect" earlier in this forum -- it might have droped to page two or three by now): Normally, LimeWire connects automatically, you don't have todo anything. But there are some (very commonplace) spyware programs (such as new.net) that interfere with LimeWire (or, more specifically, the Java Socket Architecture). So the solution is: get rid of the accursed SpyWare, then DON'T FORGET TO REBOOT, then it should work. Get Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftUSA.com to kill the critters (you my have to run it multiple times, and also under different logins). good luck ! |
Re: Connecting to limewire -- The main thing, is that it doesn't connect immediately. You have to wait. (Especially if you're on a dial-up) Yes, new.net does cause lots of problems, but they're mainly illegal operations. Kirby |
Uhm, spyware isn't illegal actually. Kinda like having camera's in the dressing room. You have to have a sign saying that there are cameras. It's when there isn't a sign that it becomes illegal. Same thing here. The sign is in the disclaimer though, and most people (I guess unfortunately for them!) don't read the disclaimer. Their own fault though... |
OOPS, sorry, that's what I get for reading too fast, heh. Well, good for anyone that doesn't know I suppose. |
