Connection Problem Solved
 

I uninstalled both Java and Limewire twenty times and still got the red disconnected in lower left. I finally found out why! At one time I had installed Zone Alarm, but since I had checked "don't start with IE and there was no icon in the system tray, I assumed it was inactive and not responsible for my inability to connect on Limewire Pro, WRONG. When I uninstalled it , I got this message: "Shutting Down True Vector Internet Monitor"! So it was active in some way, and after a restart, I deleted the Limewire preference folder in C:/documents and settings/owner/.limewire (delete the whole folder), then I started Limewire, responded to a few install questions and voila it connected, Green baby, green.

Bottom line, you must uninstall any old firewalls(not the XP one, as long as it's disabled). They still might be preventing your connection even though you think they are inactive. By the way what the H is a true vector internet monitor. Hope this helps a bunch of you.

The botton line is that you are talking bullshit, every Gnutella client (including Limewire) works well through a firewall (including Zonealarm and XP firewall) - the trick is to configure it right!!!
