When I download or open 3.8.6 my internet connection crashes
 

First off.... I have cable internet through Mediacom. My cable modem is a... Motorola SB4200 Surfboard. When I first installed 3.8.6, I went to connect limwire and there was no connection. I then tried to get online, and my internet wasn't working. I contacted my ISP and they walked me through rebooting my modem. My internet was working again. I tried connecting Limwire again and my connection failed again. I then unistalled Limwire and rebooted my modem. My computer worked fine with Limwire 3.6.12. Is there a way to fix this problem? I would prefer having the older version again. Can someone please help me?

I had similiar problems with my isdn adapter on linux. I found that the code on limewire's CVS server workerd finr for me, so if you know how to do it, you can download and compile it yourself. If not, you can download older versions of limewire since 3.0.1 from http://www3.limewire.com/download/ . Hope I could help you.

I went to the downloading website of old versions and downloaded Limwire 3.6.15. It works great. No problems at all. I'll stick to the old version instead of crashing my connection. It's also easier than troubleshooting my way through other options. Thanks soo much for your help!!!!!!!!

I hope that somebody can give me a hand here. I am running Win ME, and haven't been able to connect for quite awhile. I tried everything that was stated to do through this thread, but still have no luck. I have downloaded the latest version, 3.8.7, but no luck. I tried to go back and download 3.6.15, but admittedly I am kinda stupid when it comes to doing things like that. All it would tell me is that the install failed. Can somebody help me out here.

Try the other thread where you posted before and look for the instructions about

how to remove LimeWire...

Probably you simply need to properly remove LimeWire first...
Then, reboot and install the 3.6.15...

you can download older versions of limewire since 3.0.1 from http://www3.limewire.com/download/

Then reboot again and try it ...
