Default I can't get any kind of Connection...!?!?!?!

My computer is running on windows 98se, i am on a school network (never had file sharing problems so I don't think there is a firewall) , I am using LW3.8.6. I have been using Lw for a few years now and have had on minimal problems till now. As soon as I upgraded to 3.8.6, I have not been able to get a connection, I cannot check for other types of firewalls because I don't know how and there are no threads to tell me how to look for the....I can tell you I don't have Norton and I have java.exe. When I try to connect I get nothing, no light change, nothing....It's like it makes no attempt to connect. Can some body help me out with this problem....Please????????

Testing port blocking. Specifically, the common Gnutella port (6346). Although, some networks can sense the traffic in a more sophisticated way.

Thanks

Assuming that you are not running Norton stuff either ...

Run this in the Start-> Run field:

cmd /K java -version

If that says Java version 1.3.1 (or not 1.4), try installing java 1.4.2 from here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/

Thanks
