cannot connect

Guday everyone, i'm a new subscriber encountering his first problem! can you help?

i have selected a download i require, hit the search button, and i get the message," you are not connected to the network, to connect select "connect" from the file menu.

I do this and press the search button again and get the same message, what am i doing wrong:confused:
