Specify a port??? Configuration Window??? I am using a DSL/Cable connection and I am unable to connect with Limewire. It gives my a error msg ...Could not find a port to use for incoming connection. Please specify a port from the configuration window.... 1) What is the configuration window..2)How do I specify a port with a Cable connection that always connected? I appreciate any and all help.... |
Ports and Configuration 1) Click on "Tools" at the top of your screen, and then click "Settings" on the drop down menu. This is where you can configure all of your LimeWire settings. It is alternatively called the Configuration window. 2) On the options/configuration window, click on the network tab. Here, there is a section called "Listening Port." The default number for this is 6346. If it is not, change it. Also, there could be a slight possibility that LimeWire is unable to find your internet connection. On this same window, make sure that your "Connection Speed" is set to "Cable/DSL." Hope this helps! :-) |
Correction Update The previous post of this fix has some mistakes, so here's a revamped fix. Anything that has been changed has *asteriks* around it. Sorry, everyone! :-) 1) Click on "Tools" at the top of your screen, and then click *"Options..."* on the drop down menu. This is where you can configure all of your LimeWire settings. It is alternatively called the Configuration window. 2) On the options/configuration window, click on the "Network" tab. Here, there is a section called "Listening Port." The default number for this is 6346. If it is not, change it. Also, there could be a slight possibility that LimeWire is unable to find your internet connection. On this same window, make sure that your "Connection Speed" is set to "Cable/DSL." |
Snapshot 1 Attachment(s) To further claify my instructions, I have included a snapshot (as an attatchment) that you can compare your own setup to. :-) |
