serious connection issue..HELP!
 

I am using Mac OSX (10.3) and can not connect to Limewire. I downloaded a working version from a friend and have the exact preferences and settings as he does, yet when I click on connect, it connects for a second then disconnects. Any ideas?

I think you are a serious mac greenhorn! You're only good at making babies. Arrrrrr

kulina--you may not have installed all the necessary pieces: try a clean install and redownload a fresh copy from here.

The other OSX setting that can limit connections is the built-in firewall. See Apple Menu-System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall->New->Gnutella/Limewire (6346).

btw--to completely remove LW, search for all files containing "limew" to find all the old pieces and trash them.

it's also good practise to make sure your system is tuned up--see if these troubleshooting links help ensure that your system is running smoothly.
