Cant get a good download Help,,,,,, I am using the 3.8.7 version of limewire, I dont have a firewall on my computer, I log in from home, I have a cable internet connection. Initially I had the Java Virtual Machine that Limewire said to install which is the 1.3.1 version of the JVM. That gave me a WI*** RPC error each time I tried to shut down the computer after closing limewire. As I had that error, I deleted that JVM and installed the latest JVM, 1.4.1. When I start up limewire, it opens up, and first has a turbo charged connection, which gets slower and slower as time goes on, and finally shows disconnected. Even if I select some files to download that have a T! or higher connection and more than 10 users, I seem to connect and begin the download only sometimes, when the download speed is very low like 1 or 2 or even 0KBs. Whats going on? I did thed fix sdaswani suggested, that is fully shut down the instance of limewire, delete the .limewire file, and then restart limewire, but no improvement. What do I do?' |
one more thing to add to my last post I have also noticed that at times when the connection on the bottom says excellent or turbocharged, my download shows a speed of 0 Kbps. Is this strange or what? |
Salut shashgo, in the search window right click on the colums (name, type...) to enable the view of the vendor column. If the vendor corresponding to your download says RAZA, prepare to be patient.... (In summary it is the client Shareaza that uploads to many network thus giving ridiculously low speed downloads). You can always try to repeat the search, LW will pick up any new sources in the results for the file you're dling. Bonne chance ;) |
Most of my download vendors are limewire 3.8.5 or some other version of limewire. Sometimes I do see shareaza as the vendor. The latest download I started is from limewire 3.8.5, but I get a connection speed of 0 Kbps even though the connection is sometimes excellent and sometimes turbocharged. I dont understand this. What can I do to make it work right? Will the other gnutella tools like bearshare, xolox, ... work better. I used to use kazaa for my file sharing, and it used to work fine, only kazaa does nto have as many files, so I wanted to switch. |
Salut you can try bearshare, but forget xolox, morpheus and gnucleus....:p Bonne chance |
