![]() Attempting to set up LimeWire 3.8.8 for my teenage daughter on Windows XP Pro. Works fine from 'administrator' account, but not from any 'user' account (my daughter's or mine!) - just shows 'Quality:Disconnected' status. For obvious reasons I don't plan to give my daughter 'administrator' rights! Norton Internet Security 2003 firewall in use, I have followed the instructions given for port and javaw.exe rights - and firewall is active for all accounts, so I don't see any difference there anyway. Likewise can't see that 'parental controls' could be stopping it - my own 'user' account has that switched off and I can't connect from that either. What else could be stopping this? TIA, Steve. |

![]() Hi... I know the following is a bit on the old side, but http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...trator+account If you don't find a solution there, at least you will have more info to use when you say, "No, I do know about that and it is not the problem..." and.... Have you checked the 'built-in' firewall in XP ???

![]() Thanks for suggestion...but that didn't solve it. XP's own firewall is off (I rely on Norton) Install was from admin account Tried compat mode before (sorry, should have mentioned that) - neither Win2000 nor Win98 mode made any difference. Java version is pretty up to date - 1.4.2_03 - with plugin at same version. I checked also that user accounts get the same version as admin account. If I go to user account, right-click LimeWire, and 'Run as..' admin then it works - but then it has admin rights, which is what I'm tring to avoid. I looked at Norton logs and could not see any blocked conneciton or firewal restrictions happening when user execution of LimeWire happens - just stays 'Disconencted'. Is there some way I can have LimeWire tell me what is failing or being rejected? Thanks for the help. |
