Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() Thanks for your mail and tip. These are my result A) My Fire wall is set up to allow LW full acess. This was done 2 months ago when i joined the service B) I did the simple test and got the message " Your Test Worked" C) These are the answers to my PC and internet set up: Please give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) – WINDOWS 2000 2. What firewalls you have? – WINDOWS FIREWALL 3. How much ram? - 256 4. Hard Disk space available? – 40GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) – BROADBAND (T2) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? HOME & WORK 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version -LW 4.9.23, JAVA 1.5.0.04 9. Who is your isp provider? 10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is I HAVE BEEN USING LW FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS NOW. IT HAS ALWAYS WORKED FINE FOR ME, THIS IS BOTH AT HOME AND AT WORK. ![]() hi im from england and i am still having connection problems using limewire...when i open limewire an error message appears saying my machine does not have an active internet connection...this did not happen before i updated...limewire was working fine until i updated to limewire basic 4.9...ive tried everything limewire has told me to about connection problems but nothing seems to work...i dont want to remove limewire and install it again as i am sharing 260 files on limewire...would i loose all my files if uninstall limewire and install it again?...if i do is there any other way i could activate my limewire connection...PLEASE HELP!!!!! ![]() megido1 & younga-angel, both your problems are recent. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire & see if this makes any improvement. |

![]() All that does in delete your LW preferences folder called .limewire but the next time you open LW, it will create a fresh .limewire folder. See the image samples at the bottom of the link-page I gave above. Very easy to do. It has nothing to do with your downlds or incomplete files. But just make a note of the settings such as where your downld folder is situated so you choose to make it the same after you open LW next time. If it is the default location then nothing to think about. |

![]() its still not working...i dont know whats wrong...its my firewall settings that are blocking limewire from connecting...im using windows firewall and ive tried turnin it off and ive also tried adding in the ports...but nothing works...i dont know what ive done..pleaseee helpp..thank you. shenila |

![]() Did you close LW before you deleted that folder? That's very important to do. If you didn't you'll need to redo it. Quote:
