![]() Hi, New to the forums, this is my first post!! My problem with connection don't seem to be in the millions of similar post that are nearly all the same. My set up and connection, searching and downloading all happens perfectly well, and the bandwidth I get is as expected for a 1mbps broadband. The problem occurs that after about 20 minutes all downloads will stop and I will get the error message advising that I don't appear to have an internet connection. Sure enough my broadband has dropped off so I just reconnect. The loss of connection to the ISP does not ever happen without Limewire connected (except sporadically every week or so, but every 20 minutes as when LW is connected). It makes no difference if I have my browser open (I use Firefox). I use Zone Alarm but LW is fully cleared for access, and makes no difference if I close ZA. I do not (nor have I ever) used the windows firewall. My ISP is Tiscali @ 1mbps, I am not on a LAN, and I am not using a router. My suspicion is that it could be a fault with my ISP, tiscali can normally provide better than 4mbps but were unable to on my phone line, suggesting the quality is poor. It seems to disconnect mainly on high traffic, though it has not done this while downloading large programs through firefox. Could there be anything in LW to stop this happening? And if not how do I make it automatically reconnect? (surely it can prompt windows to reconnect automatically?) Obviously this makes it very difficult to download anything large, and for others to download from me, and I keep losing my queue positions. Also after 3 or 4 drop-offs my services in windows start getting scrambled and eventually have restart windows to cannect properly (unless I wait for ages). Thanks for any help. |

I just tried on my own and dont even know where to find the limewire pref folder thing, so yeah i need help. The main thing I dont understand is just last week limewire was working fine on my old computer which was a windows xp, but now it says a firewall is blocking the connection. I tried reconfiguring the firwewalls, turning them off, pretty much everything but it still says I cant connect. |

![]() Hi, I'm having the same problem with lw. On the bottom left corner, the little bars are all red except for the first one. And every time I want to search a song, a box pops up that says LIMEWIRE IS CURRENTLY CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK. I have tried everything. Please please help! |

![]() after HOURS of troubleshooting and doing EVERYTHING i read in the millions of posts...here's what i did to FINALLY get my TURBO-CHARGED connection: exit limewire (tray, too), deleted as much of the .limewire directory as the system would allow, then start limewire. THAT'S IT! |

![]() I honestly don't think any of these fixes help. I was trying some of these "fixes" on my laptop and it totally destroyed my laptop. It won't even boot up anymore. I think that Limewire needs to fix their program. I had limewire for years and never had a problem until this year. Now I can't connect (other than the one green bar like everyone else). I didn't change anything. One computer I tried it on had no Nortons and my windows firewall wasn't even on. I don't think it has anything to do with that. I hope that Limewire will be fixed someday. I really liked it. But for now I would suggest people do what I'm doing if you want to get music...just buy an itunes card and pay .99 cents for the song, because obviously Limewire "fixes" aren't helping much. I'm not trying to be a mean person I'm just trying to say be careful while trying to fix the computer and that I honestly think that something else is going on with Limewire. I just can't see all these people losing connection for no reason. |
