Default NEW SOLUTION......!!!!!!!!!

Guys, ive had all the problems anyone had.

Tryied Setting GNUTELLA, deleting .limewire, even restarted, downloaded that weird file that couldnt open, etc etc.

IF nothing worked, u may missed one little part:

before u download LM installer, it says on the faq, to download JAVA, a little program for optimization. well...my old LM version always worked without it, but 4.8 looks like it needs it.
install it, restart, and if it didnt worked, dude...commit suicide, cause ive been trying to run this for ever, and I was about to curse everyone that works for LM...but hey, 18 bucks is finally something.

By the way, I have pro but even the non pro worked.

WIn XP, 3.0ghz, 1 gb ram

Good luck yall...

Donica,

With 3 pc's on the same router you will need to setup, STATIC ip's, individual ports in eah LW client, and forward the same ports to each PC's ip.

I'm still trying to "tweak" this app into shape myself.

First, I would try setting up all the clients on the lan with manual (STATiC) ip's, share a folder on each of them and see that you can access the shared folder thru the lan.

Then, you need to setup individual port "sets" on each one as well and FORWARD the "sets" per station from the router. This is in theory how it "should" work but this new age of P2P is quite a mix of clues instead of directions

Try this, under the firewall config of LW:

:Client one:
Listen: 6346
Manual port forward: 6346

:Client two:
Listen: 25201
Manual port forward: 25201

:Client three:
Listen: 25301
Manual port forward: 25301

For each station you set the port set the same FORWARDING port in the router to that stations IP. There seems to be some confusion on ports but in theory this should work. They are suppose to be TCP but you could try setting your router/firewalls to allow both both TCP/UDP.

Technically speaking that is all the more you should have to do! In theory, when client 3 sends out a request for something the server/client responding will send back info to port 25301 TCP on your router and then your router will FORWARD that info to the IP set for Client 3

In theory

Also, try disabling both Ipsecurity (IPSEC) and Block Wan Request. Consult your manual or www.portforward.com/routers.htm

<--NOTE--> Your router may differ from the one listed at the site. Also, check for router flashware/hardware/software upgrades!

=---> 25010-25792 optional safe ports to use! <---=

PLEASE POST BACK! GL!

Joshnbox reinstall the Java or Security update. Have a look at the Sticky in the OSX section of the forum.

Thumbs up connecting

HEY!!!!

Anyone using Windows XP SP2 firewall:

Manually go in to your firewall setting. click on exceptions... Click on add port.......for service name
LimeWire
port 6346 TCP

do it again for UDP

when you are done.... you should have 3 limeWire listed on your
exceptions list

I had tried all the fixes and have spent a record number of hours trying to get my bloved lime wire back, and have finally accomplished it.

hope it works for everyone

Unhappy PLEASE help!

i have gone through page after page on this forum and *nothing* that i've tried has worked.

i'm on a mac g4, os-x. i went through the firewall instructions on the limewire site but it didn't seem to do anything.

when i click http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ i get an error message ("Safari can’t open the page “http://www3.limewire.com:6346/” because it could not connect to the server “www3.limewire.com”.)

when i do the bug report example it says "Received incoming this session: false"

i have one green bar and the quality says Connecting. my connection status says Leaf (i have no idea what that means). i have NO connections.

PLEASE help, i am completely lost!

jaeru which OSX version you running? Go to OSX section of forum to see solutions to Java issues related to OS 10.3.9 updates.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. What firewalls you have?
2. ram?
3. Hard Disk space available?
4. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
5. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
6. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
7. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
8. Are you networked or sharing a router?
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

Angry

I have added Limewire to the firewall exceptions, I have deleted the personal folder and restarted, I have done everything suggested by everyone here. Yet when I start up livewire it stays at Quality: Connecting and does absolutely nothing!!!
I have even gone in under options and put it to manual port (tried several different port #'s) but still nothing, nada, zilch. I am currently on Windows Xp and we have a T1 line here at work. Any suggestions?

After buying a new PC today I could not get my limewire Pro to work for love nor money, however I believe I have found the necesserey solution:

*******************************

Normally new PC's come with Java on them, but an outdated one. Go to the Sun Java website and download JRE v1.5.0. It MUST be the JRE otherwise it will not connect. Use this link and follow the instructions:

https://sdlcweb4b.sun.com/ECom/EComA...1673A5E51CB6B4

This answered all my prayers, and I am glad I could share it with you guys!!
