![]() I am having the same problem as LEFTSAID FRED. None of the F.S. programs will. I tried quite a few. Bearshare, Shareaza and a few more. I just cant connect. My ISP Is QWEST DSL and Modem Is ACTIONTEC #:GT701-WG With wireless router. If there are any solution a response would be apreciated. |

![]() space_silent your modem/router might not be UPnP capable. In which case you should probably manually forward a port for your device. To do so you MUST 1st set up a static ip or else it won't work. For instructions see below: 1. Set up static ip. 2. Forward port 6346 using these instructions: http://www.portforward.com/actiontec/701.htm 3. Within LW, see this: Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. Also make sure your firewall is properly configured to allow LW full access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml |

![]() i don't want to sound like a moron (but i probably do), but all of this static ip, port forwarding stuff makes no sense to me. i'm relatively computer literate, but when it comes to stuff like this, i need stuff broken down step by step. anyone still willing to help? if not, just tell me how to get my money back. thanks! |

![]() eeek! ![]() Do these things: A. Configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) (if you need to disable Win XP's Firewall in favor of another then: go to the control panel, double click on Windoze Firewall, check the disable box.) B. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? (If you can't reach that page then your port 6346 is blocked!) C. Please give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? 10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. If you require Port Forwarding: * If you have a modem/router that uses NAT but does not utilise Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) then you may need to forward (open) a port. (Check the specifications of your device to find out if it supports UPnP or not! Some only support it in USB mode & some not at all!) See http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm if you equire port forwarding to open up Port 6346 which LW uses by default. Remember the most important thing is to 1st set up a Static ip or else port forwarding won't work! Then forward a port (after choosing model from that site, & selecting port forward, choose LimeWire from the list of programs to open a port for.) Th 3rd step is this: Within LW: - Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. |
