![]() Hi, New to the forums, this is my first post!! My problem with connection don't seem to be in the millions of similar post that are nearly all the same. My set up and connection, searching and downloading all happens perfectly well, and the bandwidth I get is as expected for a 1mbps broadband. The problem occurs that after about 20 minutes all downloads will stop and I will get the error message advising that I don't appear to have an internet connection. Sure enough my broadband has dropped off so I just reconnect. The loss of connection to the ISP does not ever happen without Limewire connected (except sporadically every week or so, but every 20 minutes as when LW is connected). It makes no difference if I have my browser open (I use Firefox). I use Zone Alarm but LW is fully cleared for access, and makes no difference if I close ZA. I do not (nor have I ever) used the windows firewall. My ISP is Tiscali @ 1mbps, I am not on a LAN, and I am not using a router. My suspicion is that it could be a fault with my ISP, tiscali can normally provide better than 4mbps but were unable to on my phone line, suggesting the quality is poor. It seems to disconnect mainly on high traffic, though it has not done this while downloading large programs through firefox. Could there be anything in LW to stop this happening? And if not how do I make it automatically reconnect? (surely it can prompt windows to reconnect automatically?) Obviously this makes it very difficult to download anything large, and for others to download from me, and I keep losing my queue positions. Also after 3 or 4 drop-offs my services in windows start getting scrambled and eventually have restart windows to cannect properly (unless I wait for ages). Thanks for any help. |
