![]() Please help if anyone has an answer or suggestion! When I launch Limewire Pro (newest version or beta version) the program totally disables my cable modem. I have to completely reset the modem...unplug modem, turn off computer, etc. So of course, I get the "cannot connect" error message. I know it disables it because afterwards I try to access the Internet normally but it doesn't work until I do all the resetting. An older version of Limewire, I think it's 3.6 works so it has to be something in the new software. I figure since I paid for Pro, it should be working! I've had to uninstall the software. System info: Windows XP Mototorola Surfboard SB4200 cable modem Using Adelphia cable AMD 2100+ 1 gig memory 2 HD's (120 gig and 40 gig) Thanks in advance! ![]() |

![]() I have a similar problem, though not as hard to fix. I'm using a PowerBook Mac OSX 10.3.3, i connect to the internet through an Airport base station wireless, connected to a Linksys router which is connected to a cable modem. I just upgraded Limewire about a week ago when i got this new computer. the problem just started yesterday. When i launch Limewire, i get "status: connecting" and "zero files shared/disconnected" on the screen. After a long time, i get a message saying i have no internet connection, and sure enough, my browser and email are not working. I go into the Internet Connect control panel and choose Airport. It says "loading Airport," and then, it shows a normal status indicator. And then, i am again able to surf the web and download mail. Everytime i launch Limewire this happens. otherwise, my internet connection is consistently robust. Sometimes when i get my connection back, after a long time, Limewire will connect to the internet and then works normally, but it takes a long time to start, if it starts at all. I would like to go back to the older version. I can't use this version. |

![]() I am now posting from a differnet computer because Limewire 3.8.10 somehow destroyed my ability to connect to the internet on the other computer and if anyone has any suggestioins as to how to fix it, i'd appreciate it. Here's what happened: I decided to test the Limewire problem using a dial up connection. I used a regular dial up modem direct to the phone connection, no router, no cable, no wireless. The modem connected. I was able to surf, etc. I then launched Limewire. The same problem repeated, same error message, "your computer does not seem to have an internet connection or else you have a firewall." and when i tried to surf or download mail, i could not. Since that point, i am no longer able to use the internet on that computer at all. My connections all look good, the indicators show that i have a sending signal when i try to access or send mail and when i try to launch a browser. In the TCP/IP control panel, it shows a good connection to a server (192 rather than 169). So the problem seems to be some corruption of my system software. I'll call Apple tomorrow and see what i have to do. Reinstall the system? What a mess. Re-booting the computer was of no help. In my case, it's not related to the cable modem because it also happens with the dial up modem. On the computer I'm using right now, i have an older Limewire, 3.6.15 Pro. It's working great. Unfortunately, this computer is totalled (an iBook). It fell off a table and now the lid just flops around and you can see inside the display. That's why i got the new computer. I just want to get it working again, uninstall that demon limewire, and possibly find a way to move this older version to my new computer. this sux. |

![]() yay! my powerbook is functioning again for email and web surfing. It might be because i removed the Limewire icon from the system tray at the bottom of the display (the dock). no way to know for sure. I also deleted the Limewire preferences. But i'm scared to launch limewire again. I'd like to get an installer for an older version. Otherwise, it's back to Kazaa on my windows machine. |

![]() Have a look here > http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...tall#post86122 It might be a slightly convoluted path to the answers that you need, but you'll learn other stuff on the way ! Remember that version numbers/links will differ, as well as specific commands, depending on what Operating System you are running. (Probably also a good idea to carry on your posts in the above-linked thread.)
