![]() Hi I hope someone can help. I am using Limewire Pro (Version 4.04) on OSX. When I starup Limewire it connects fine and the quality races up to "tubocharged", I can search and any saved downloads resume. This happens for about 30seconds before everything grinds to a halt and i am disconnected. During this time I am unable to browse the internet. Is this my Limewire preferences, my modem (netgear DM602) settings or something to do with my isp (bulldog dsl)? Tearing my hair out. Thanks |

![]() thanks. tried that and it looked good for a while. connected and started downloading very fast but then i got dumped off. now when i restart i can't connect at all (get the "firewall / no internet connection" message. i have got apple firewall on but gnutella port is checked. have tried with firewall off. internet is browsing fine when limewire is not running. not happy |

![]() What seems to be happening is that the router isn't handling all the connection requests LW is making (incomplete downloads trying to start, hosts trying to connect, uploads being requested, and so on). Browser connections rarely need more than a few connections. You can cut down the connections by cleaning out the incomplete folder. Too, USB ports on OSX don't seem to handle the many connections required for p2p. I assume you are using the ethernet port with the netgear? btw, I set my prefs to NOT connect on start-up. Maybe that will help. |

![]() thanks again but still no joy. i'm connecting with an ethernet cable. do you know somwhere i could download an older version to check it isn' a version specific problem? is there anyway to limit the number of connections i make? just to reiterate i am seemingly able to connect and the quality bar gets to turbo charged. it will accept searches but there are no results........... really would love this to work |

![]() There is the Disable ultrapeer checkbox, and older Free downloads can be found at http://www9.limewire.com:82/download/ I did note when I looked up your router that it has built-in firewall capabilities. Might be worth contacting the company's support and seeing if a firmware upgrade or if it allows port-forwarding. See http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/ar...ex.php/t-10508 |
