Unhappy Still Can't Connect

I have a Mac OS X v. 10.3.4 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 with 768 MB of RAM. I am 'trying' to use the LimeWire Basic v. 4.0.5 that I downloaded and I can't connect. I have made sure that my firewall is allowing gnutella traffic, and I have tried to close all limewire apps and delete the prefrences and that didn't work either. I am also 99% positive that my server is not the problem. I have tried the University of Georgia wireless network (uga) as well as a wireless network called wag. Please someone help me.

Sounds tough: even though it looks like all esle is good, wireless network connections through a university involve two more problems: Airport (yes?) and university network administrators.

--your airport should be configured to allow port 6346. I can't recall the link just now, but search for "airport" on these forums and see if any of the many links might help, like this older one http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=&postid=87620

--universities have a reputation for blocking common filesharing ports. Do you know of anyone who is able to connect to filesharing networks over your network? Might be a good idea to ask around and see what if the network admins have posted an answer.

Since it looks like you've read many of the tips already (the info posted is quite useful) I guess you've already tried the http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ test to get some indication if port 6346 is blocked.

cheers
