Can't connect

I don't understand all of this. I was using Limewire when it was allowed as a trial version on my computer. The trial version ended and I really like the product - so I opted to pay the non-refundable amount to upgrade Limewire and now I can't connect. I'm reading all these messages about firewalls, jars etc. why would these be issues now for my computer and connection when they weren't for the trial version? To be honest with you, I don't want to have to major in computers to connect to a paid service to use it! Can someone please help me in laymans terms to get connected to Limewire again.

Thank you.

?
Where did you get an expiring trial version? As far as I know, the basic (read "free") version of LW does not stop function after a set amount of time...
Anyway, for information on how t disable firewalls, or rather, give LW permission to connect and stuff with the firewall on, go to the LW web site (www.limewire.com) and read the FAQs about firewalls. I think they're pretty understandable.

can't connect

The trial version I had gave me an edit that I needed to upgrade in order to continue to download- the only upgrade option I could see was to upgrade to Pro. If I could have continued to use the trial version (which was working just fine) I certianly wouldn't have decided to download a version that cost me a non-refundable fee. I'm sorry, but I have read the FAQs and whatever parts of the issues I could understand I have tired but still can not connect. No one seems to be able to answer my initial question, why could I use the trial version just fine but then when I upgraded now there are all kinds of issues w/firewalls and stuff yet I'm using the exact same computer, dsl connection, internet service etc.?

Sorry, no one can help you until you provide your system setup/info & OS info.
Need this in order to provide the correct troubleshooting solutions.

Did you download LWP v4.0.5? If not, suggest that you do so as that is the latest version.

Microsoft windows XP
Home edition
version 2002

eMachine
T2825
AMD Athlon (tm) XP 2800+
2.09 GHz
448 MB of RAM

I have 4.0.5 version of LWP.

Is this all the info you need? Not sure what system set up/info and OS info all entails.

Thanks
