Default Help with connection

When ever I open lime wire 4.0.5 it says
Error
Your machine does not appear to have an active internet connetion or a firewall is blocking LimeWire from accessing the internet.

Im on my home computer i have satelite internet and windows 98
I didnt have this problem up until a few days ago. Does any one know how I can get around this, any help is appreciated.

hi i am having the same problems.When u connect to limewire does it connect for a couple of minutes then dissconect you from your internet connection.Email me on [EDIT] or reply on here. thankyou

No, I never do get connected. I just get connecting.......connecting.......DISCONNECTED
what does yours do?

Baller says that he has Windoze 98 so no built-in firewalls like XP. Any other firewalls maybe?

As for gaz, does your entire connection drop or just LW?

hi.Yes my whole internet connection drops when i go to connect to limewire.I have windows xp.I never even knew there was a firewall built into windows xp.I had kazaa a while back and never had this problem and they are basically the same things.would a firewall disconnect u from the internet then? can u help please

Uhh, no. I don't think a firewall would disconnect you from the net completely, just limit what you can do. Configure the firewall to permit LW to connect (read the FAQs or run a search for firewall issues in these forums) and try launching LW again.
