Default XP Pro Connection problems, please god read this and help me!!!

I just installed Windows XP Pro on my computer. I can't connect to Limewire, Blubster, or Kazaa. I don't think it is all of their software. I think it is that I am a computer illiterate retard.

Generally, my belief is that something about "port forwarding" is wrong. My firewall is turned off. Something called Simple file sharing is turned on. I have checked the internet security level and it's all at either "enable" or "prompt"

Pretty much, it must be something preventing me from receiving information. I had XP Home and all three programs worked fine. I am studying for the California Bar Exam and have wasted 3 hours in complete frustration. Please help me and I will be forever in debt to you.

bzdup,

When you say your firewall is off are you talking about the firewall in XP or another firewall?

In XP open network connections, select your network connection, under network tasks select "change the settings of this connection", select the advanced tab and under "firewall" uncheck the "Protect my computer" option.

Hope this helps,

Norm

Yeah, I meant I had already turned that firewall off but I still can't seem to connect. It's really messed up. Thanks for the reply.
