norton firewalls we have a norton firewall. we already opened port 6346 on our microsoft firewall. do we need to open anything on the norton firewall, and if so how. we cannot connect and have been trying everythiing. please help! |
stanman, I don't think your issue is with Norton unless you told it to block Limewire from connecting. Just to be sure -- open Norton, select "Personal Firewall", on the right select "Configure", select the "Programs" tab, scroll down to Limewire. It should say "Permit all". If it say "Block" then select "Modify" and change it to permit. There are several other things that can cause your problem but it is difficult to guess not knowing your operating systen or connection method eg, school or company might prevent you from connecting or a router might cause you problems etc. Good luck, Norm |
I think Norm is making the point you need to specify as many of your specifics as possible. Everything from your comp, everything, to your connection, etc. Any firewalls, etc. We need to know your exact configuration to help use to problem solve your sit. Even then we may not come up with an exact answer but surely some suggestions that will assist towards one. |
Allow access to Java as well. At least until the next release where it will be LimeWire.exe. Thanks -greg |
stanman, Peerless makes a good point. You should never configure Norton to "automatically configure internet access". Norton's decisions are not always what you want or need. Leave it set to "manually configure" and you can make your own decisions based on what you want and need. Norm |
ok i cannot connect. i have the same problem as everyone else it worked fine the first day but now it dont want to connect. i also have norton but i think some had already blocked LW from doin its thing. whaat do i do>? i dunno i payed for klite subscription but the dler only gave a valid one for LW and some other ones. is there anyway to get the K lite i payed for? please help me.... |
Sounds like you got scammed by one of those third party websites. For Norton firewall, you have to make sure that Java has permission to make requests through the firewall. LimeWire works on Java. Soon, it will just be necessary to let the LimeWire.exe make requests through the firewall. thanks -greg |
