unable to load
 

I'm using the latest version 4.0.8 or something like that, just got it yesterday 8/8/04 and no matter what I do, whether I double click the icon or single click and hit enter...or go to the file in explorer...all I get is a short time hourglass and nothing....

Anysuggestions???

Can you supply a few more details please & I'll see if that helps me to understand your problem. It would help for a start if you could provide details of your computer, OS version, Java version, connection type, firewalls (?), etc.

For a start, make sure you have the latest version of Java!

Thanks for getting involved....under internet options it talks about having Java 2 v1.31_04. But, I thought when I d/l'ed the limewire it had me d/l the latest version of java but I'm not sure.

I'm using a HP 1.5 gig with win xp home on a dsl...I did just crash and have to rebuild the whole thing about a week ago and that's the reason I'm trying to get limewire regoing and am not sure if there is a automatic fire wall built in or not but I was able to use the older version with the dsl before.

I don't believe that the dsl has a firewall built in either but I could be mistaken...it's Qwest Actiontec.

You can double check to see about your Java by going to http://java.com If LW was working before then it doesn't sound like a firewall issue. However you can check your firewall settings to ensuer it is allowing java & LW to access. I think the latest version is 1.4.2 but make sure you get the right version for xp. You can manually or use auto update. Get baack if ou still have probs.
