1-way Satellite & Proxy Settings I was advised to give Limewire a try by a friend. Firstly, I have read ALL the 'Connection Problems' stickys & threads ;-) I use a Proxy 5 connection with Kazaa & Win MX - no problems at at - both connect within 10 seconds of startup. Gnutella port connections added as advised - still no connection. XP ICF also disabled completely - still the same. What am I missing ?? BTW - Limewire connects 1st time, every time on 56k / no proxy |
does LW know you have a proxy? go to tools, options, advanced, proxies than fill all the proper information in |
Yep, proxy settings entered correctly, just as in Kazaa & MX : Socks 5 : 193.251.135.104 / Port 1080 Just get a message saying 'check you are connected to the internet' or words to that effect...... Very frustrating  |
maybe you need to reinstall LW and your proxy what you need to do when you are reinstalling limewire, to uninstall you go to add/remove programs and uninstall there, than you delete the files, in the limewire folder, which is usually under program files. and the .limewire folder inside of documents and settings. |
Hi Peerless Not enabling a Proxy server (as supplied by the satellite operator), results in all data been received by the modem only - in my case a 56K V90 external. The whole idea of using 1-way satellite broadband, is to acheive high speed d/l's when you don't have access to phone-line ADSL. YES, a modem connection works fine, but I am used to 80k+/sec not 5k/sec (5k on a good day ;-) as provided by a dial-up connection. |
