Default very different connection prob

Here is my setup first. I have wireless internet at home that runs from the wirless modem to a wirless router and it feeds my internet to my comp through a wireless lynksys router. Any way what happens is I am always connected. When I first start limewire it takes about a min sometimes longer to connect and somtimes it gives me a message stating I dont have an internet connection or my firewall is blocking lime. After i click ok on that message and wait a lil longer it will finnally connect at poor. A min later im at good. Another full minute later im at excellent and eventuall even turbocharged. So whats the deal. So basically I have 2-4 mins in a full connection to lime. I am runnnig XP with SP 2. Let me know if you have any suggests. Thanks Brad

You have a lot of work in front of you:
Download the LW 4.1.5 beta @
www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml
Open your Windows firewall on port 6346
Do port forwarding on your router as stated here:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=25119
Apply the patch to get more simultaneous incomming connections on SP2 (they were limited to 10)
http://www.lvllord.de/4226fix/4226fix.htm
see the gnutellaforums about SP2 here

Bonne chance

If I can take a more reserved approach, it is normal for LW to take some time to connect properly! After you open LW & the old dnlds are re-loaded, LW will search out for immediate sources for these files. Depending upon how many incomplete files you have, this can take several mins (Yu need to be patient.) If you have any forced 'resume' or should I say many, then this will have a definite affect on your connection quality (whilst you might dwld these files ok, you won't be able to search b/c your connection energy is drained upon the resumed files.) May I suggest you don't resume dwnlds unless absolutely necessary. Search & dwnld techniques can help : Here's some search hints! Also remember that if you share a reasonable no. of files, you'll have a better chance of good connections & search results.

Very strange... does that happen all of the time? Even if you close LimeWire and restart it right again?

Are you asking me or camcar? For me there's a reason.

Did you try the things et Voila suggested? Did you start using Limewire before or after the SP2 upgrade? If you used it before did it work?

I really starting to get upset. So I have a laptop and a desktop. I installed limewire on my laptop that just had a fresh format and windows xp install NO service packs. And it still wont work, so I decided to rip my router out and I connected my laptop directly to the wirless internet modem and turned my firewall completely off. Still nothing, I tried the beta and the regular basic. Tried the same approch with my desktop that has ALL windows updates including SP2, turned off firewall connected directly, still nothing, not even an internet connection not detected just tries to connect then says disconected. I just cant figure it out, thanks still for the continuous help im not givin up yet
