Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Try the fixes in the post below. If LW Will Not Connect Start off by changing Java versions...a lot of people had connection issues with the Java version that you have Remember to uninstall all versions of Java (Add/Remove Programs) before installing a new one. If that doesn't help, go through the other fixes carefully. Also have a look at this post...even though it's very old, a few people have recently found that it's worked for them. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/78282-post22.html If you're sure that you've tried everything there & done it properly, have a look at port forwarding for your modem. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Zoom X5 Don't forget to set up a static IP address first! LW's lilstening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the modem setup should all be the same number |

Same situation....I have tried everything, updated java program, put in all the ports suggested, checked that the limewire is accepted in my firewall programs (running norton personal firewall and windows firewall). Do you add the port numbers in norton personal firewall under the http port list or somewhere else? I only end up with 1 green bar showing and it states it's connecting to the network. I have recently put in a wireless network....is there somethin I should with it? I have tried turning off all the firewalls as well but still nothing. Let me know if anyone has any great answers. thanks! |

Thanks for your insight....but to make it even more simple.... For all those people who aren't getting a signal or can't connect try this and see if it works... (I have been working at this for hours and finally connected) Basically it's only step 2 from your instructions that we need to follow with one exception as I will explain below... 2. Per Limewire's own instructions ( User Cant Connect - LimeWire ) First start LimeWire | Tools | Options, go to the very bottom of the list to Advanced | Firewall Confi and see what number is in the "Listen on Port" box, copy this down and then go to Start | Control Panel | Security Center | Windows Firewall | Exceptions and "Add port..." Put the number you copied from Limewire in the port number box and name it whatever you want (example of name "Limewire port") in the other box and just leave the green dot on TCP. That should be it.....start up limewire again the wall should be removed and the green bars should start filling up (it takes a sec for all the bars to go green). Hope this helps! Quote:

Hi all OS XP SP2 P4 3.0 Ghz 2Gb ram I just installed a new copy of XP SP2 and after doing the windows updates, installed Limewire. Limewire will not even start, it reboots my computer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple times and get the same result. Trying to find info specific to this problem in other threads seems to lead to the Windows Firewall and checking open ports, however Limewire doesn't even show in the Exceptions list. Any insight? Thanks. |
