RE: LimeWire and SP2 If you actually read all the documentation on SP2 this problem is EASY to figure out. Simply, I can't come up with a solution. As part of an anti-worm feature Windows will only allow so many connections to be made at one time. One a program reaches this limit, it is denied futher access to the internet. *Hides from the gods* I don't mean to advertise for other programs, as Shareazza sucks, but it has a popup on this subject. *Shareazza doesn't work for me either tho*. I see no current solution to this besides LimeWire's Outgoing connections at one time to be limited, and all Ultrapeers being restricted to SP1 and before computers. I have completely disabled my firewall in WinXP SP2, and even ditched my router, formatted, reinstalled, and tried everything I can think of. Still no luck with getting it working again. Maybe everytime it trys to connect to more than 5 servers Windows writes the Denial to the Registry. Who knows what nazi activities MicroSoft is up to now. A FIX! After not being able to connect for weeks I began searching my registry for LimeWire. After several mins. of searching I came across this registry key. My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wind ows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache C:\Progra~1\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe Now if you don't know how to edit the registry you SHOULD NOT attempt this as this is the brain of windows and you could destroy your installation. But INSTANTLY after I removed this KEY I was able to Connect at Turbo Charged Status again. Does removing this key have any adverse affects? Or is this the ban by windows mentioned in my last post? Opinions please. |

hmmm i'm on a college network, but limewire worked earlier this year...i did everything everyone said about the xp sp2, and i deleted the preferences folder...i'd really like this to work cuz i just paid to get this updated...if it's not going to work, or if i'm not computer savvy enough to work this (i shouldn't have to be an expert to use limewire), then is there a way to get a refund? can anyone help me?? |

I'm having the same problems. I have windows XP I have tired all the port set ups, but finally gave up and on the windows fire wire, I deleted the prefrence files, tired the new beta version and deleted limewire and reinstalled it. I am on a college/university network, but Limewire worked before, not very well, I could only download a song or two at a time but it worked. After Th windows SP2 it doesn't work. Any way I can get around my network from blocking me without having to change providers? |

wheres that patch? about to give up Can someone tell me which post contains the patch which supposedly solves all these problems? I will try that, and then if I am still having issues, I'm going back to WINMX, which I hate but at least can connect to. |

ZoneAlarm Configuration I have recently found a soultion on the web that should work for you guys as I also have ZoneAlarm (Security Suite). First click the "Firewall" tab and on the "Internet Zone" click on "Custom". Next, go to where it says Allow incoming UDP Port, outgoing UDP Port, Incoming TCP port, and Outgoing TCP Port. Click each one by one and type in "6346" (or whatever port you have configured for Limewire) for each of the entrys. This will open up that port and still leave your computer "stealthed". For anymore questions that you want to ask me, my email is fisherkebone@msn.com. I will try to find the answer and email you back. Thanks! and I hope this helps. |
