![]() I have been reading the messages regarding the problems about connecting and now seem to be having the same problem. I signed up yesterday to limewire and downloaded a couple of tunes, however when i went to re-connect today i could not. The red sharing icon flashes for a few seconds on green but does not connect. I feel this is something to do with my firewall but not sure Which is norton antivirus 2004. I have read some of the previous messages and tried what was wriiten but with no joy, i cannot find the limewire preference folder. Please could somebody give me a more detailed report of how to get me up and running. I use cable(broadband). I am using XP HE. Manny thanks. ![]() Last edited by Roadstar; September 27th, 2004 at 03:29 PM. |

![]() Norton antivirus is not a firewall. Norton firewall is a firewall. Norton Internet Security contains a firewall. XP also contains a firewall. And chances are, if you have SP2, that the firewall is active. Go to www.limewire.com and then support. Read the part about firewalls and probably some of the facts too.

![]() Yes, but i dont fully understand them. If it is alot of messing around i will ask for my money back. I was under the impresion that you just downloaded limewire and away you go, this is not what i expected. ![]() |

![]() Asking for your money won't help as, if you've read the Refund policy (or rather no refund policy) then you'd know this "Q: Why does LimeWire have a no refund policy? A: LimeWire strictly adheres to a no refund policy because we offer the customer a free version to try out and use first before purchasing the enhanced version. Our small staff also can't honor or support refund requests on a daily basis. In addition, the customer also can't "return" the product for which she wants a refund, since the software has been downloaded and used." Get it? Besides, if you want everything handed to you on a silver plater, what are you gonna do if/when your comp starts acting up? Buy a new one? Anyway, on to the problem at hand: which parts of the explanation don't you understand? Open LW and go to Tools, Options and Bug reports. Since you've turned off XP's firewall, try going clicking the button there (the one that gives you an "example" if clicked). Scroll down to the part where it says "Recieved incoming this session". What does it say? True or False?

![]() As a side note, be aware that LW and many other programs (most, actually) can have a greatly varying performance from computer set-up to computer set-up, so where someone will need no configuring at all to run LW (or, again, any other program) you, or someone else, might need to tweak some things here and there.
