Default limewire not connecting, java problem?

I install and run limewire with no problems, it tells me I don't have up to date Java, so it installs it. fine.

Then I run it and it doesn't connect. I followed all the instructions for getting it past windows firewall. No joy.
It gave me instructions for zone alarm -- allow javaw.exe to access the internet.

According to Zonealarm, this program has never attempted to access the internet.

I am routing my laptop through the University server but I don't think that that's the problem. Wouldn't they just stop me from downloading Limewire at all?

I'm using XP Home edition. Thanks in advance for your help.

Java isn´t the problem here. limewire wouldn´t start without it.

How should they do this? The only way to stop you from downloading Limewire is to block the port 80 which your brower is using... this wouldn´t make really sense because you wouldn´t be able to surf.

Ask your admi if they are blocking file sharing I bet they do. Your university pays as all others schools per traffic and sharing applications cause much traffic.

Did you install SP2? this could also be a problem.
