Murasame to the rescue!!

Well, almost. Actually, I've got rather bad news fo' you people: University and "Work" networks usually have firewalls up to prevent people from using P2P (that's apps like LW in case you didn't know).
If you want to verify if that's the case for you guys too (it may not be) either ask around in campus or go directly to your IT department (if you think it's cool with them if you asked wether they block P2P or not).

If you want to ask your IT dep directly, you can try asking them if they block port 6346 (the one LW is using). If they are, you can try asking them if they got a port that they don't block.
If, and that's a big "if" if ya ask me, they do give you an alternate port, go back to your comp, launch LW, open the Options window (that's the Prefs for Macs) and go to Advanced. There, input the port that you know isn't blocked and click Apply.
See if you can connect.

In the (more probable) case that the IT dep will basically tell you that if you dare use P2P on their net you're done for, either start saving money to pay for your own connection (and, as a probable consequence, your own flat too), or just forget all about P2P and spend the money on CDs and stuff...

Oh, okay.
I didn't see that there was a person who had LW connect in the past.
In your case, read this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=22359 (and, of course, apply it)

I am having the same problem of connecting for a while and now I get nothing. The connection light flickers on for a second and then goes out. I can still surf the Internet. On the Bug Reports, it said true. Also, my OS is Windows ME.

klpro, I figure from your post that you aren't trying to get connected via a campus or company net. That means that your prob isn't the same.
Anyway, you can try deleting the prefs too.

Default Yes, I am also in the fold

Yeah, I'm in university with the same problem. Thing is, a few others on my floor have limewire without problems...so it must be a firewall. Bah.

See if your co-students will allow you to have a copy of their LW Preferences. LW's prefs are in a folder called .limewire
Found in: C:/Documents And Settings/your_username/.limewire

Default Lord of the Rings, something to say.

I read this thread. I'm on a Mac OSX operating system, and I'm having connection problems.

My firewall is defaulted OFF. There are some options already in that box unchecked, and I just don't want to mess anything up. I don't want to start firewall and get blocked from using something I really need. When you reply to this, I'll give you more details about my situation. Thanks ^^

I'm not sure why you'd necessarily want a firewall for a mac anyway. But some more details to your problem would certainly help. Are you trying to connect via a school or work?

Hey, how come Supes' eyes are blinking? Is that to simulate heat vision?

Next time I'll say: "This is a job for... murasame!". You got any classic Supes-tearing-his-shirt pics?
